AT&T has decided to follow in the footsteps of Verizon Wireless by hiking up the fees tied to getting a new device on its network.
AT&T has confirmed that it’s increasing its activation and upgrade fees by $5. That means that you’ll pay $25 rather than $20 when you activate or upgrade, AT&T subscribers activating a new handset will now pay a $25 fee, up from $20. AT&T is leaving the two-year activation fee for tablets and wearables at $45.
The new activation/upgrade fee for one and two-year agreements is raising from $40 to $45, . Going forward after August 1, should you choose to sign-up for a new contract to receive a discounted phone, you will pay $5 more than you used to.
